Quick answer

2qbo Convert is MoneyThumb’s desktop suite for turning bank and credit-card files into QuickBooks (QBO) and related formats. It is built for accounting firms that want a licensed Windows or Mac app, scanned-statement OCR, and a wide set of inputs and outputs.

pdf-to-qbo.com is a browser tool for one job: a text-based PDF bank statement in, a QBO file out, then import into QuickBooks Online or Desktop. There is nothing to install. It is the simpler 2qbo Convert alternative when your statements are electronic PDFs from a layout we already parse—especially Chase and U.S. Bank—and you do not need Quicken, Excel, lender analysis, or local-only processing.

Prices below are the public figures those products have listed. Confirm them on each vendor’s site before you buy.

What people mean by 2qbo Convert

MoneyThumb sells more than one converter. The name 2qbo Convert usually points at the desktop suite, not a single $25 web upload.

Public product pages describe three layers:

  • 2qbo Convert Pro, a lifetime desktop license. Recent public comparisons put it near $549 without OCR.
  • 2qbo Convert Pro+, a higher lifetime license (recently listed near $599) that includes a year of the PDF+ OCR add-on for scanned statements. PDF+ then renews yearly. The Pro+ edition has been described as Windows-only.
  • Single-purpose converters (for example PDF-to-QBO or CSV-to-QFX) sold separately, often for less than the full suite.
  • MoneyThumb Online, a browser product priced by conversion. Entry packs have been listed from about $24.95 per month for 5 conversions (one account on one monthly statement counts as one conversion), with larger packs and a discount for paying yearly. Unused conversions roll over while the subscription stays active.

The desktop trial is typically full-featured but writes only the first handful of transactions (commonly the first 10). Desktop files stay on your computer. The online product uploads the PDF to MoneyThumb.

MoneyThumb also sells lending tools—statement analysis, alteration checks, and an API. Those are outside a normal bookkeeping conversion.

What pdf-to-qbo.com is

pdf-to-qbo.com does not try to replace that whole catalog. The path is:

  1. Sign in
  2. Upload a bank-statement PDF
  3. Download a .qbo (Web Connect) file
  4. Import it

In QuickBooks Online: Banking → the account → Link account → Upload from file.

In QuickBooks Desktop: File → Utilities → Import → Web Connect Files.

Plans on our pricing page are monthly conversion allowances, not a lifetime desktop license:

PlanConversions / monthMonthlyAnnual (billed yearly)
Starter150$15$90
Pro300$29$174
Enterprise750$49$294

There is a 3-day free trial. You can cancel a paid plan. Batch upload is on the paid plans. Chase and U.S. Bank statement layouts are the ones we maintain directly. Other banks work only when the PDF matches a pattern we already handle. Scanned image PDFs are not the target. We do not output CSV, Excel, or QFX.

The PDF is uploaded over HTTPS, converted, and not kept permanently. This is not an offline desktop app.

Pricing: license, pack, or a monthly allowance

The two bills are hard to compare as a single number because they count different things.

2qbo Convert Pro is a large upfront license. If you will convert statements for years, on many banks, including scans, that license can cost less per file than renting a narrow online pack. MoneyThumb Online is the opposite: a small monthly pack (about five statements) is easy to start and expensive if every client month is one conversion. A bookkeeper with 40 accounts can burn a 5-conversion pack in a week.

pdf-to-qbo.com sits in the middle on price and at the narrow end on scope. Starter is $15 for 150 conversions in a month, which is a lot of electronic statements if the bank layout is one we support. It is a poor buy if half of those PDFs are scans or banks we do not parse—you would pay for errors, not for files QuickBooks can use.

Run one real statement through each trial before you pick a plan. MoneyThumb’s desktop trial shows the full parse and then cuts the file short. Our trial is there so you can import a complete QBO and see whether the layout survived.

Output: QBO is not the only way into QuickBooks

2qbo Convert’s advantage is range. Depending on the SKU, MoneyThumb can emit QBO, QFX, QIF, OFX, or CSV, and it can start from PDF, CSV, Excel, or an existing accounting file. That matters when this month’s client sent a PDF and next month’s sent a CSV, or when the destination is Quicken rather than QuickBooks.

pdf-to-qbo.com emits QBO only, from a PDF bank statement. QuickBooks Online can also import a 3-column CSV (Date, Description, Amount, debits negative). If you already have that CSV, you do not need either converter. If you only have a PDF and you want the Banking upload to be a QBO file, both tools are in the right category. We simply do not also hand you Excel or QFX.

Privacy and platform

Desktop 2qbo Convert keeps the statement on the machine. That is the real advantage when a firm’s policy says client PDFs cannot be uploaded. MoneyThumb Online and pdf-to-qbo.com both send the file to a server. We do not ask for bank logins, and we do not keep the PDF after conversion. If the file is not allowed to leave the computer, use a desktop converter, not us.

Platform is the other split. A browser covers Windows and Mac with no installer. 2qbo Convert Pro+ with OCR has been sold as Windows-only. Mac users who need scanned statements should confirm MoneyThumb’s current Mac SKU before they assume the suite covers them. Mac users with a normal electronic PDF can use pdf-to-qbo.com without that check.

Accuracy

MoneyThumb has spent years on bank layouts and sells OCR plus balance reconciliation for scans. That is the right tool when the PDF is a photo of paper or a credit-union layout you have never seen.

We would rather fail an unsupported layout than invent transactions. After import, look for an opening balance booked as a deposit and uncheck it—that line shows up in a lot of statement parsers, including desktop ones. We do not claim a running-balance proof on every row.

Supported today means Chase and U.S. Bank text PDFs, plus other files only when they match an existing pattern. A single PDF that staples twelve months together is harder than one statement per month. Split by month if pages are skipped.

When 2qbo Convert is the better tool

Stay with MoneyThumb if:

  • You need scanned statements and their PDF+ OCR
  • Clients send many banks, or a mix of PDF, CSV, and Excel
  • You also need QFX, QIF, or CSV, not only QBO
  • Client files must be converted on the local PC
  • You want a lifetime desktop license and expect to use it for years
  • You need their lender checks or API

When pdf-to-qbo.com is the 2qbo Convert alternative

Use pdf-to-qbo.com if:

  • The file is an electronic PDF, especially Chase or U.S. Bank
  • You only need a QBO file for QuickBooks Online or Desktop Web Connect
  • You do not want to install software or pick among a family of converters
  • Volume is a stack of monthly statements, not a lending review of scans
  • A monthly allowance from $15 is easier than a $549 suite or a 5-conversion online pack

Skip both if the bank still lets you download QBO or OFX for that period. The bank file is the one QuickBooks already expects.

FAQ

Is pdf-to-qbo.com a 2qbo Convert alternative?

For PDF bank statements to QBO, yes. It is not a replacement for 2qbo Convert Pro’s OCR, multi-format conversion, or local processing.

Does MoneyThumb 2qbo Convert require a subscription?

The desktop Pro editions are sold as lifetime licenses, with PDF+ OCR as a yearly add-on after the included year. MoneyThumb Online is a subscription priced by conversion count. pdf-to-qbo.com is a subscription priced by monthly conversions.

Will the QBO file import into QuickBooks Desktop?

Yes. Desktop imports Web Connect via File → Utilities → Import → Web Connect Files. QuickBooks Online uses Banking → Upload from file.

Can I convert a scanned statement?

Use a tool with statement OCR, such as MoneyThumb’s PDF+ add-on, or ask the bank for an electronic PDF or a native QBO download. pdf-to-qbo.com is for text-based statement PDFs.

What if my bank is not Chase or U.S. Bank?

Upload one statement during the trial. If we do not recognize the layout, you get an error instead of a silent bad file. Do not buy a year of conversions on a sample that failed.

Try one statement

Convert a PDF bank statement to QBO. Use the same file in a MoneyThumb trial if you are still deciding. Import both results and compare the transaction list, including whether the opening balance was added as a deposit.
